Who We Are

A joyful family moment as parents and children cook together in a cozy kitchen setting.

The whole crew, Sunday morning, testing batch #47.

We started because we were tired of buying hot sauce that tasted like heat and nothing else.

It started in our grandmother's kitchen in 2018. She had a cast-iron skillet, a backyard garden full of Fresno and ancho chiles, and an insistence that every meal deserved a sauce worth talking about. When she passed her recipe book down, we knew we had to do something with it.

Now it's three siblings, one wood-burning smoker, and more pepper varieties than we can count. We grow what we can, source the rest from farms we've actually visited, and cook every batch ourselves. We never use extracts, thickeners, or anything we can't pronounce. Just peppers, vinegar, salt, and whatever makes that particular sauce sing.

Every bottle you get from us has been tasted, adjusted, and approved by people whose names are on the label — because this is our family's name, and we're not putting it on anything we wouldn't be proud to serve at the table.

"We never set out to start a business. We set out to make something worth eating."

What We Stand For

The things we won't budge on.

Running a small food business means making a hundred choices every day between easier and right. Here's where we always choose right.

01

Real peppers only.

We use whole fresh and dried chiles — never extract, never powder from a bulk bag. You can taste the difference, and that difference is the whole point.

02

Small batches, always.

We make what we can make well. No contract manufacturers, no co-packing lines. Every batch is mixed, cooked, and bottled in our facility by our team.

03

Honest heat.

Our heat level labels mean something. A medium is actually medium — complex, warm, food-friendly. Our hot is hot. We build flavor first and let the heat follow.

04

No shortcuts on sourcing.

We visit the farms we buy from. We know what our Fresno chiles look like growing in the field, and we want it that way.

From Garden to Bottle

It starts with the pepper. Always the pepper.

We source our chiles from farms in New Mexico, California, and Texas that we've visited in person. Fresno reds for brightness and citrus heat. Ancho and mulato for deep, chocolatey smoke. Ghost and Carolina Reaper for the bottles that carry a warning.

When the peppers arrive, they're sorted by hand. Anything that doesn't look right goes back. We're making sauce, not juice — the quality of each ingredient matters more than the quantity.

The current lineup — eight sauces, all made here.

Cooked low, bottled by hand, labeled by us.

Every sauce is slow-cooked in small batches — never rushed, never mass-produced. We cook by nose and by taste, adjusting the balance of acid, salt, and heat until it's right. Then we bottle it ourselves, seal it, and hand-apply every label.

Bottles are packed to order and shipped within two days. No warehouse, no distribution center, no middleman. You order from us and it ships from us.

From the Table

I've been buying hot sauce at farmers markets for fifteen years and Kin & Fire is the first one I actually called my mom about. Smoke & Slow is something else.

Marcus T. Portland, OR · Smoke & Slow

The subscription is the best thing I've done for my kitchen. A new bottle shows up, I feel like someone's looking out for me. The Bright Fire goes on everything.

Priya R. Austin, TX · Bright Fire

Sunday Ghost is legitimately impressive heat — not novelty heat. It's hot and it has layers. That's hard to find. I've ordered six bottles in the last three months.
